Hiking on MLK Day

This year, instead of going shopping or to the movies for my MLK holiday, I opted for a much cheaper form of entertainment: hiking with the boyfriend. We spent the afternoon wandering through creek beds and exploring waterfalls while creating wonderful memories. Although there are no mountains here to do any super-intense hiking, we managed to wear ourselves out shimmying our way up to every ledge and crawling into every cave we came across.

The first big waterfall we came to.

One of the little caves. This one had a little waterfall too!

Finding quaint local places like this in your area can be quite a blessing. They are affordable (we only paid $3 total) and can help you get in your fill of the wilderness without feeling the need to travel halfway across the country.

Tip: When going on day hikes, bring an extra set of clothing for the car ride home, that way your fun will not be limited by trying not to get dirty or wet.
